I don't think the Government wanted Trigger in the condition it's in for the taxes Willie Nelson owes/owed. I get Willie Nelson's Trigger is a road-worn acoustic, but I'm not Willie Nelson. A ding in a solid body electric & it's not catastrophic, it's a rite of passage towards stage cred. And that's another thing, I can live with a nicely padded gig bag for an electric solid body, I wasn't making that concession with the Acoustic Electric. And I played Taylor & Martin, still preferred an Ovation to both (I have to admit MSRP was a big influencing factor even with a brand new Applause/Celebrity I could stay under $ 500 and the Taylors & Martins still were more & came without a case, the differential was being able to buy a hard case for the Ovation). So I didn't bother to chase the Luna, even though the bamboo model was intriguing. All that felt different, but close enough was the width of the lower bout and any acoustic is going to feel like there's more there compared to even a hollow body electric like a 335 or Gretsch. depth of the bowl was a push for the Luna vs SS Applause. The Applause felt bigger but not outright dreadnought cavernous. The Luna was never going to be anything more than the $ 150-175 guitar it was (Safari Series). It was a no brainer really, they both were $ 175 and the Applause is about a $ 300-350 acoustic electric. The Luna had no electric feature, the Ovation was an AE128 SS that was able to be plugged in or unplugged. I lucked into the Applause really, locally. Neck feels & plays like an electric guitar. Fretboard radius, the Applause is a 10 inch radius, most every acoustic I've seen specs for was 14". Price: under $ 200 (New MSRP (Luna) or Preowned (Applause).Ĥ. The shape and additional dimensions of a super shallow Lyrichord bowl to me was > than the all wood 3/4 traveller.ģ. However, the Applause was regular size but the super shallow bowl size was more like a traveller for depth of bowl. Size: as a traveller, 3/4 size is going to be ideal for a traveller.

Obviously more fret spacing 25.5 vs 24.75. 0104, (that's diameter of a Gibson High E string for a set of 10's to 11's) inches difference. Anyone really able to tell the difference between 25.3 & 25.5 for chording ? I mean it's a 1/8 inch difference for fret spacing thru the first dozen frets, each fret has to be about 1/12 of an 1/8 of an inch. Gibson probably stays 24.75 consistently. The Fender acoustics seem to be all over the place from a 22.75 mini to 25.6 even, 25.5 seems to be their more popular scale though. The other 2 scales are you a Fender or Gibson preference for scale length for electric really. The Ovation has the Lyrichord and 25.3 is so close to 25.5. I think scale length boils down to whether the neck & reach feels better for 24.75 or 25.5 if going for an all wood acoustic. Plugged in an AE is going to potentially feedback like anything hollow naturally does. Being an Ovation super shallow bowl, the depth of the bowl really is about the unplugged volume. so any solo bends/chords aren't as aggressive as a solid body electric. I don't think scale length really affects playability for the slower acoustic music really.
